The Four Preps - click for larger image

Ed Cobb's life comes right out of a fairy tale. He and his pals were discovered after singing in a talent show at their Hollywood High (class of 55) senior talent show. They landed a seven-year recording contract at Capitol Records and became known as The Four Preps with 13 chart hits between 1956 and 1964.

Ed Cobb went on to have an amazing song writing career with hits such as "Tainted Love" and "Every Little Bit Hurts."    Ed Cobb also wrote, recorded and produced songs in Hitsville USA in Detroit. He later owned Producers Workshop in Los Angeles. Gloria Jones first recorded "Tainted Love" in mowtown in 1964.  Marc Almond with Soft Cell had the big hit (no1 in 17 countries) for "Tainted Love"  in the 80's.

Ed also produced and wrote songs for bands such as "Sweet Young Thing" for The Chocolate Watch Band; "Dirty Water" and "Barracuda" (among many others) for The Standells; and worked on The Wall with Pink Flyod and Rumors with Fleetwood Mac.

Song Fact: The only genre of music "Tainted Love" has NOT been released in is COUNTRY!

Lyrics: Tainted Love

Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive
into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love, oh
Tainted love

Now I know I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
You don't really want any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you think love is to pray
But I'm sorry I don't pray that way

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love, oh
Tainted love

Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I'm gonna pack my things and go
Tainted love, tainted love
Tainted love, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love
Tainted love, tainted love, tainted love
